A Jewellery Designer and Manufacturer by profession from Durban but based in Johannesburg and an artist at heart. He obtained his National Diploma at the Durban University of Technology in 2010. He then undertook an opportunity to get work experience to qualify for his trade test by working for a jeweller in his city, but it was not what he had presumed. So he started looking in other Provinces. As an optimist, it wasn’t a disengaged idea to relocate towards his dreams. He then worked for a Jeweller in Johannesburg on a 2 year fixed contract until the end of 2013. That’s when he decided that he needed more than trade test skills and qualifications to intensify his visions of becoming a worldwide trend-setter within the jewellery industry and beyond. He believes in a lifestyle with endless possibilities of being a versatile instigator with elite associations in the art and design business. As a result he is now part of the post graduate course in Market Research, Commercial Jewellery Design and Product Development, hosted by Design@50 and sponsored by the Gauteng Growth and Development Agency in connection with The Jewellery Council of South Africa.
Lungelo has what he would describes as an “ache” for this programme to open doors to his persistent outlook. This doesn't only demonstrate his willingness and drive for success but also indicates his fondness of the arts, crafts and a cultured lifestyle. His regard in people, figurative imagery and attention to detail has sparked ideas of interest in trends. This father of a 6year old perceives a brighter future in progressing to a brand, that he believes people all over the world will relate to. His objectives are as big as his sudden interest for literacy and information, Rodney claims to have finished reading 2 books in the past 4 months and he visualises the world reading one of his own one day. He even goes on to say that “it is not too bad for a person that has never been seen with a book on his hands”. Contact him via firstname.lastname@example.org
